Systematic Collection:
Entomology – comprises two collections: a Collection of Insects of the Balkan Peninsula with about 500,000 specimens, established by Viktor Apfelbeck, and a Collection of Insects donated by Boro Mihljević, with about 30,000 specimens (Lepidoptera and Coleoptera)

Ornithology – comprises four collections: Othmar Reiser's Collection of Birds of the Balkan Peninsula (about 10,000 specimens),a  Collection of Birds from Areas beyond the Balkans (about 700 specimens), a Nests Collection (about 50 specimens) and an Egg Collection (about 500 specimens)

Herpetology and Ichthyology – Collection of Amphibians and Reptiles (about 4000 specimens), Collection of Fish (about 7000 specimens)

Mammalogy - Collection of Mammals (about 950 specimens)
