On completion of the four buildings of the Museum in 1913, the Natural History Department acquired its own building, and the Botanical Garden was established. The Department consists of a Geology Section, a Zoology Section and a Botany Section, the latter including the Botanical Garden. Part of the material is housed in the scientific collections of the various Sections, and part is on permanent display in the Department building. The Botanical Garden, with its living collections, occupies the central area between the four buildings of the Museum.
